Eeva served on the planning committee of this year's conference that took place on October 28. We are looking forward to working with her to help guide the organization as we provide support to people who stutter across Canada and plan next year's conference.

Support Group for children who stutter starts up in St. John's

fluency friendsSt. John's, Newfoundland has a new support group for children who stutter. Speech-language pathologist Ashley Rossiter has started up a 6-week program that takes a peer-based approach to create positive experiences with stuttering. The sessions will run in August and September at the Newfoundland and Labrador Down Syndrome Society. See Groups page for more information.

Wow, what a great Conference!  Everyone I spoke with told me that they got so much out of it and that they were looking forward to attending next year!  I was amazed at the number of first timers we had there.

Attending the 2017 NSA Conference in Texas

ConferenceA workshop at the 2017 NSA Conference Kim Block attended the 2017 National Stuttering Association Conference in Dallas, Texas. Her husband David and their two children also attended. One of the reasons she was there was to promote her new children's book about stuttering, Adventures of a Stuttering Superhero. Kim will be the keynote speaker at the Canadian Stuttering Association conference in October.

Save the Date! 6th Annual 1K/5K Walk & Run for Stuttering Awareness Sep 24!

walkathonFor the 6th year, the Annual 1K/5K Walk for Stuttering Awareness will take place on September 24, 2017. This is an annual event that helps to raise money for the Speech and Stuttering Institute, a clinic in Toronto that provides therapy for people who stutter. View photos of past years here!
