Welcome to the world of Nina G! Professional Speaker, Stand-up Comedian, Author, and person who stutters. Her infectious humour informs, entertains, and gives hope to those who stutter and insight to those who do not. “I stutter and you are just going to have to wait for all the brilliant things I have to say!”.

Nina G, known as one of the first female stuttering comedians, is also a professional speaker, story teller, writer, educator, and has a doctorate in psychology. We are super excited to welcome her as our 2020 CSA Conference Keynote Speaker, taking place November 7-8, 2020 at the beautiful Crowne Plaza Niagara Falls-Fallsview in Niagara Falls, Canada! More information about the conference here.

A Dream Made into Reality

As a child, Nina had a life-long dream of becoming a comedian, but never thought she would be able to go up on stage and make people laugh. Her inspiring story begins with how stuttering initially caused Nina to abandon her dreams, before she embarked on a journey that culminated in a career as one of only a handful of stuttering stand-up comedians working today.

As keynote speaker, and touring regularly throughout the U.S., Nina learned that the issues that impact people with disabilities, impact everyone. Committed to raising awareness of stuttering, Nina also presented a TEDx talk at San Jose State University in 2016.

Humour with a Purpose

As a comedian, Nina’s humour helps people confront and understand disability culture, access, and empowerment.

Nina G was the only woman who stuttered in the stand-up comedy world when she started 10 years ago. She co-produced the Comedians with Disabilities Act, a national touring comedy show featuring exclusively comedians with disabilities. She also produced the first compilation album to feature Disabled Comedy Only. Nina’s brand of comedy reflects the experiences of many with disabilities.

Helping Others to Defy the Odds

As a writer, Nina, a disability activist, has written a children’s book titled, Once upon an Accommodation: A book about learning disabilities, that helps kids and adults advocate for their rights as a person with disability.

In her latest book, Stutterer Interrupted: the comedian who almost didn’t happen (She Writes Press, August 6, 2019), Nina tells the story of her journey and challenges the status quo of how people who stutter are perceived onstage and off. Additionally, she substitutes the negative emotions of shame, denial, and isolation with positive ones of pride, acceptance, and community. And, despite having learning disabilities, she has a doctorate and is now working with students with disabilities to help them access their education.

We hope you will all come out to the 2020 CSA Conference to meet Nina G and experience her keynote speech and maybe even purchase a copy of her book for her author signing event! We welcome YOU ALL and Nina G!!!
