An important part of the CSA’s mission is to “promote awareness and understanding of stuttering.” As such, we support the accurate representation of stuttering in traditional and digital media of different types.
We are sharing an opportunity for you to help shape the portrayal of a 16-year-old character who stutters in a novel currently being written by Canadian author, Dale Curwin. The author is committed to portraying stuttering with honesty and respect and is seeking input from those with lived experience to help ensure accuracy. All responses will remain anonymous and confidential. Participants are not required to answer any question that they find uncomfortable. If you have questions or concerns about the survey, how your responses will be used, or the book project itself, Dale welcomes you to contact him directly at dgcurwin@gmail.com.
If you are under the age of 18, we recommend that you obtain approval from your legal guardian before completing the survey.
We commend Dale for his commitment to portraying the experience of stuttering in an authentic way, and we look forward to reading his novel. Thank you to those who participate in his survey.
