The highly successful Toronto Walk Run for Stuttering Awareness will expand to St. John's, Newfoundland in 2018. Over the past seven years the annual walk has raised thousands of dollars to help people in financial need obtain speech therapy at Toronto's Speech and Stuttering Clinic.
Greg O'Grady, who created the walk in 2012, moved back to his original home on the east coast with his partner this year. He remains committed to keeping the Walk alive, and saw an opportunity to bring the event to another city.
It started with a desire to 'give back' to the clinic that had helped change his life for the better. Now Greg will also be working with The Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (NLASLPA) to publicize the event and distribute money raised for the purpose of helping people who stutter obtain speech therapy. The Walk is still planned for Toronto as well. More information will be available next year, so stay tuned!
