Mathew Yaworski, BCL/JD, will give an overview of Human Rights legislation and the protections that it offers to People Who Stutter (PWS). He will review the legal tests for Discrimination, the Duty to Accommodation and its limits. Drawing from his experience in human resources, he will share best practices on how PWS can disclose their stutter, request accommodation, and protect themselves in the workplace.
Participants will learn about human rights regimes, what is required to establish a claim of discrimination and the extent of an employer's duty to accomodate. Particpants will also learn best practices for seeking accomodations and to protect themselves from discrimination in the workplace.

Mathew Yaworski
Mathew Yaworski, BCL/JD, is the CSA's Employment Advocacy Coordinator. Mathew is a litigator for the Government of Canada practicing management-side labour and employment law. Before receiving his law degree, Mathew held senior positions in human resources (labour relations) with various public sector employers.
