This workshop invites People Who Stutter and their allies to use mindful movement as a path to grounding, reflection, connection, expression, and self-acceptance. Participants will engage in practices that support emotional regulation, offer alternative forms of communication, and foster connection and resilience. No dance experience needed; this workshop is inclusive, accessible—and it’s fun!
Participants will journey through five stages of the workshop experience. Each stage is designed to support a distinct learning outcome:
- Ground – Cultivating self-regulation through breath and body awareness: Participants will learn grounding techniques that increase awareness of internal states and support emotional regulation.
- Reflect – Exploring the embodied experience of stuttering through mindful movement: Participants will deepen their understanding of how experiences of stuttering manifest in the body, moving through them without judgment.
- Connect – Engaging in shared movement and rhythm with others: Participants will experience the power of co-regulation and connection through collaborative movement, fostering empathy, attunement, and community.
- Express – Using movement as a form of storytelling and self-expression: Participants will begin translating internal experiences using creative expression to share personal stories through movement.
- Accept– Participants will engage in a process of self-expression that fosters pride, agency, and ownership of their lived experience with stuttering.
