2022 CSA Conference

In the fall of 2019, members of the CSA Board of Directors were inspired to have a large scale conference in Niagara Falls, Ontario, and began planning one for the fall of 2020. It seemed like a good idea, given the ongoing participation in the one-day events we had been hosting since 2014, and the enthusiasm it inspired in the Canadian stuttering community. Continuing over a 3-day period, it would harken back to the 1990s and early 2000s, when the CSA (then CAPS) held destination events at hotels in major cities across the country. It was time to go big again! We booked the Crowne Plaza for a weekend in November.
As everyone knows, the pandemic threw a wrench in these plans, as it did for so many. The hotel let us move the event to the following year. Our online conference was a hit, but not what we had in mind! We placed our hopes on the fall of 2021, which would be an even better year, as it was the 30th Anniversary of the creation of the Canadian Stuttering Association. We once again transitioned to an online conference, still a success! Will things look up in 2022? We hope so, and are going ahead with our plans for a major conference in October of this year, in beautiful Niagara Falls. Safety measures such as social distancing will be in place, and any other restrictions required by the venue.
The dates are October 21-23, and with the 22nd being Stuttering Awareness Day, the timing could not be more appropriate. This spring, we will start accepting Workshop Proposals. Stay tuned to the web site and our social media channels for more information. May 2022 be a better year for us all, and a time to renew live, in-person events!
