It is within us...personal story of acceptance and patience

This workshop is a continued presentation of the theme "Accepting our listeners." It will give a personal story about growing up in Trinidad with a stutter and what opportunities were lost as a result of not accepting my listeners. It highlights the importance of having a supportive community, family and being resilient in challenging times.  

Outcomes

The expected outcomes are as follows:
(1) Audience to have an appreciation that that it is ok to stutter, the importance of having the support of a community, its ok to have bad days and being patient with ourselves 
(2) As people who stutter, we can be supportive of others by sharing our stories.  
(3) Audience can share their own experiences and collaborate. 
 

About the presenters

Samuel Sinanan

Samuel Sinanan is a person who stutters. He is a Chemical Engineer by profession. He was born in Trinidad and Tobago and moved to Canada in 2018. Samuel works with the Board of the Canadian Stuttering Association as a Project Manager on strategic projects.
