A look at how stuttering is represented in Literature and how those representations have been translated in film and television. How has the person who stutters been situated in society, in social groups? What is the general reaction to disfluency and what does this say about society? Clips will be shown and time for a general discussion will be included.
Outcomes
People will see depictions of stuttering as subjective and the layered meanings of a need for conformity and control.

Lisa Wilder is originally from Ottawa and has also lived in Vancouver. She is currently on the Board of Directors of the CSA. She lives in Toronto and works in communications.
