Neuroscience for the Future Presidents
Shahriar SheikhBahaei, Ph.D.
Saturday 10:45AM - 11:45AM EDT
This workshop will discuss the essential neuroscience related to speech production and stuttering. It will cover the development of brain and basic neuroscience information as well as discussing fundamental of vocal production mechanisms and brain structure. No knowledge of neuroscience is required for this “layman’s” lecture that will look at neurological functions that play a fundamental role in the development of the stuttering condition
About the presenter
Earlier this year, Dr. Maguire and I presented a research update at the Joint World Congress on Stuttering and Cluttering in Montreal. After the presentation, I received many basic questions regarding cellular biology and neuroscience. Since it is very difficult to cover those topics in a typical 25 minutes workshop, I decided to design a separate workshop to provide the basic cellular and systems neuroscience knowledge required to understand most of scientific talks at conferences similar to the JWCSC.
