CSA 30 Year Anniversary Celebration and Meet the Board

Jaan Pill

Jaan Pill is a retired elementary teacher who lives in Stratford, Ontario. Years ago, when he was active as a volunteer, he was involved in the founding of the Canadian Stuttering Association, the Estonian Association of People Who Stutter, and the International Stuttering Association. He keeps fit by lifting weights and going for long walks.

Carolina Ayala

Carolina Ayala lives in Ajax, ON. She works as a Community Support Worker for people with intellectual disabilities. She has been in the field for the past 19 years. Carolina was a part of the 1992 stuttering documentary entitled “Speaking of Courage”. She enjoys travelling the world in her spare time and volunteering in her community and around the world with people less fortunate. Helping others fills her heart abundantly. Carolina is honoured to be a part of this panel.

Mary Wood

After attending a support group for PWS in Toronto in 1992 – a first for her - Mary Wood first attended a CSA (then CAPS) conference in Ottawa in 1993 where she presented a workshop on self-esteem. Since then, Mary has spoken at CSA, NSA and ISA conferences in Canada, the United States, England, Germany and Belgium. In 2005, she was ordained as a Unity Minister, a lesson that taught her you never know what’s around the next corner.

Larry Stone

Larry was born in Calgary where he graduated from SAIT in 1977 with a Honours Diploma in Structural Engineering Technology. This began his career in the construction business.

Larry retired in 2018 after 41 years in construction. During his career he had the privilege of working on projects throughout Canada and the USA.

Upon retirement Larry and Maggie moved to Osoyoos, BC where he works part-time as a wine consultant at Intersection Winery. He also does community volunteer work with local groups such as the Osoyoos Museum, Pioneer Walkway and Osoyoos Desert Centre.
