Adult-onset Stuttering: Challenges and Needs

Chris Loranger

Saturday 3:15PM - 4:15PM EST

Research Adults

There appear to be no resources whatsoever for adult-onset stutterers—no education, no therapy and no compensation for job loss. This is radically different than for children who stutter. Children have access to free speech therapy and education on stuttering. Adult-onset stutterers should be provided with at least some edcuation and therapy opportunities.

What to expect

  • Potential development of a late-onset stutterers’ support group.
  • Information sharing for participants—particuolarly as concerns speech therapy.
  • An understanding of the number of CSA members who are late-onset stutterers.
  • Sharing of coping strategies for participants.
