Navigating workplace bullying and understanding your rights as someone who stutters can be challenging—but you're not alone. Join us for an informative and empowering Let’s Talk webinar featuring a dynamic panel of experts: Matthew Yaworski, a lawyer specializing in employment rights; Amreen Valiulla, an HR professional who helps people find jobs and access accommodations; and Linda Crockett, founder of the Canadian Institute of Workplace Bullying and a renowned advocate against workplace harassment. 

This interactive session will use case studies based on true stories from people who stutter to illustrate real-world scenarios, highlight legal rights, and offer practical guidance. Attendees will leave with a clear understanding of: 

  • How the law protects against workplace discrimination related to stuttering.
  • Practical tips and strategies for effectively dealing with workplace bullying.

Speakers

Linda Crockett 

Linda Crockett is the founder of the award-winning Canadian Institute of Workplace Bullying Resources, a for-profit organization, and the Canadian Institute of Workplace Harassment and Violence, a non-profit. With over 38 years of experience in social work, Linda is a leading expert in addressing workplace harassment, bullying, and violence. She launched Canada’s National Workplace Bullying Awareness Week, now recognized internationally, and serves on the expert panel for the Restorative Engagement Program (REP), which supports individuals who have experienced workplace harm. Through trauma-informed consultations, leadership coaching, and training, Linda continues to champion safer, more respectful workplaces across Canada and beyond.

 

Amreen Valiulla

Amreen Valiulla was introduced to the Canadian Stuttering Association in 2018 and has felt connected ever since. She works in Human Resources, helping people find find jobs on a daily basis, secure interview accommodations, and navigate inclusive hiring processes. A proud mother of two, Amreen is passionate about supporting others who stutter and is always happy to connect with those seeking guidance or encouragement.

 

Matthew Yaworski 

Matthew Yaworski is a person who stutters and a lawyer. He is a litigator who practices management-side labour relations and employment law for the Government of Canada. Matthew attended McGill University as a mature student, earning a joint Bachelor of Civil Law and Juris Doctor (BCL/JD) degree. Before returning to law school, he held senior positions in human resources (labour relations) with various public sector organizations across Canada. An outdoor enthusiast, Matthew especially enjoys skiing and softball. His stutter does not define him. He is committed to helping others succeed in their personal and professional lives.
