Building partnerships with parents can play an important role in ensuring success in the treatment of children from pre-school through adolescence. This workshop will discuss the part that parents can play in treatment, from early intervention through high school, providing case-based examples. The workshop will highlight how parents can talk with their children about stuttering, how to confront parents worries about stuttering and providing tips for sucessful conversations with your child. The workshop will be eenhanced by feedback from parents of children who stutter.


What to expect

  1. Parents will have the opportunity to explore ways in which they can support their child’s treatment.
  2. SLPs will gain increased information about working with parent in treatment.
  3. Parents and children will have the opportunity to ask/answer questions about parent involvement in treatment

About the presenter

Rosalee Shenker has provided treatment to families and children who stutter for many years. She is a clinician, educator and researcher with an interest in pre-school treaetment and bilingual children who stuter. She is particularly interested in supporting parents in intervention and support of their children who stutter.
