Our Keynote Speaker, David Stones
David StonesDavid Stones is a mostly retired business executive, poet, performer, spoken word artist.....and life long stutterer. As a marketing and communications professional, David held positions from Director to Senior Vice President to President & CEO in each of the private, public and not-for-profit sectors. He has operated his own consulting practice, The Stones Group, since 2009, specializing in marketing, communications and strategic planning for business, with a focus on the association and not-for-profit sectors. David has served on a wide number of Boards, particularly those associated with chronic disease, theatre, arts and culture, and the culinary arts.
He served on the Canadian Stuttering Association Board from 2010-2018, proudly leading its strategic planning initiative and helping forge a progressive blueprint for a resurrected CSA. David’s poetry has been published widely throughout Canada and as far away as India and France. He transformed his first book of poetry, Infinite Sequels, into a one man show, complete with a curated and licensed production music track and live violin. Lauded by the London Free Press as “a brilliant and beautiful piece of theatre,” David continues to perform Infinite Sequels to appreciative audiences throughout southern Ontario, including the Hamilton Fringe Festival in 2019. His latest poetry collection, As Words Will Bend To Prayer, is currently awaiting publication. In addition to his Board work, performing and publishing pursuits, David remains active with the CSA, developing workshops for conferences, assisting with strategic planning and providing coaching and mentoring support for people who stutter. David loves his wife, Jeannie, his daughter, Caitlin, and his two beautiful granddaughters. He lives in both Toronto and Stratford.
