The momentum for International Stuttering Awareness Day (ISAD) 2026 continues to grow, with municipalities across Canada officially recognizing October 22 and helping bring greater attention to stuttering in their communities.
🏛️ Official Recognition & City Engagement
Brampton, Ontario
The City of Brampton, on behalf of Mayor Patrick Brown and Brampton City Council, officially proclaimed International Stuttering Awareness Day. The proclamation was presented through the City’s Council process and is also being featured through the City’s official proclamations resources. You can view it here.
Burlington, Ontario
Burlington has recognized ISAD by adding International Stuttering Awareness Day to its official Tributes Calendar, helping raise awareness of the day among residents and the broader community. You can view it here.
Whistler, British Columbia
Whistler Council approved the illumination of the Fitzsimmons Bridge in sea-foam green in honour of ISAD 2026, adding another landmark to Canada's growing Light Up campaign.
Mississauga, Ontario
Mississauga has approved the Civic Centre Clock Tower lighting in green from 8 p.m. on October 22. The City will also notify the Mayor and Members of Council, feature ISAD on its Community Recognition Calendar, display promotional messaging on digital screens at Mississauga Celebration Square, and share messaging through the City’s social media channels.
