The 2019 Canadian Stuttering Association Conference

We are proud to present our 2019 Conference that will take place in Toronto on October 19. People who stutter, friends and family of people who stutter, speech-language pathologists and students of speech-language pathology will be interested in this day long event. It is the fifth Toronto one-day conference, and part of a tradition of conferences going back almost thirty years! The positive feedback we get from those who attend keeps the CSA Volunteer Conference Committee dedicated to putting on a fun, interesting and meaningful event for anyone whose life is affected by stuttering. Tickets will be available shortly, so please check back! You can see images from our previous conferences on our Flickr page.

Conference Agenda

The Conference agenda will be posted in the summer. Go to the Workshop page for more information and to see the schedules from previous conferences.

Our Keynote Speaker, David Stones

This year's event features David Stones, poet and mostly retired business executive, as our keynote speaker. David has been involved with the CSA for many years, assisting with our conferences, fundraising and strategic planning. Known for his eloquence and way with words, he is sure to deliver an inspiring speech! Read more about him here.

History

It was in August of 1991 that various self-help groups across Canada, mainly in Ontario and Alberta, started planning a national conference for people who stutter in Canada. Beautiful Banff, Alberta was the setting for the first event. A series of bi-annual national conferences was held across Canada in the 1990s and early 2000s. After some shifts in the organization, today the CSA produces one day events in Toronto that allow people whose lives are affected by stuttering to get together, attend workshops and lectures, as well as unstructured time to socialize in a comfortable environment.
