Help CSA launch our first national advertising campaign

We need your help to ensure all voices are represented in our advertising campaign this Fall.

Voice assistants like Siri, Alexa, and Google were not designed to recognize speech differences. It’s a frustrating barrier experienced by the stuttering community that results in many of us simply turning our voice assistants off and resorting to less efficient ways to contact our family, check the weather, or search for a website. The Canadian Stuttering Association feels this relatable barrier can open conversations and create awareness for our organization and the stuttering community at large. If you are a person who stutters, help support the launch of our advertising campaign in two simple steps!

Step 1: Speak to the voice assistant on your device, and say, "Take me to stutter.ca." We’re interested in learning about the incorrect responses that appear, such as “sistersister.ca” or “star star starter”, so speak naturally and stutter as you need to.

Hold the Side button on your iPhone to invoke Siri. As you continue pressing down on the Side Button, say a phrase like, “Take me to stutter.ca”, “Go to stutter.ca”, or “Visit the website, stutter.ca”. For older model iPhones with Home buttons, press and hold the Home button to invoke Siri. Continuing to hold down the Side or Home button as you speak ensures Siri won’t cut you off if you stutter.

Depending on the Android device you have, there are several ways to invoke Google Assistant or Samsung Bixby. Try pressing down on your phone’s Home Button, Home Bar, or Side button to invoke your voice assistant. As you continue pressing down on the button, say a phrase like, “Take me to stutter.ca”, “Go to stutter.ca”, or “Visit the website, stutter.ca”. Continuing to hold down the Side or Home button as you speak ensures you won’t get cut you off if you stutter.

Step 2: Anonymously submit the incorrect response you receive from your voice assistant.

This question is for testing whether or not you are a human visitor and to prevent automated spam submissions.

All submissions are anonymous and will be received by the Canadian Stuttering Association in plain text format only. Multiple submissions that showcase different, incorrect voice assistant responses are highly encouraged. We sincerely appreciate your time and support!
